a second chance, 2

It has been exactly a week since I met Sungmin at the garden. Of of curiosity, I left my mother's ward and went to the garden. Muche to my surprise, he was sitting down talking to the girl again.
I widened the stride of my footsteps and reached the bench. "Mind if I sit?" I asked.
"Of course not mister! Sit sit!" the girl sang. I sat down. "Hello, how are you?" I continued the conversation.
"I'm healthy! I just have a little sick."
"How old are you?"
"I am six this year! my birthday coming in one month!"
"I see, shall I get you a present?"
"Present?! I get to get one from mister?"
"Sure."
"Thank you mister, thank you a lot!" After that conversation with her, the nurse I saw last week came to fetch her again. I waved her goodbye before Sungmin asked me "Why are you here again?"
"My mother's hospitalized." I answered.
"I see."
"Do you visit her everyday?"
"Her? Oh, no. I visit her once a week."
"Why?"
"The hospital is a gloomy place where people recover from injuries or illnesses. I just want to make sure she isn't lonely. Recovering is faster when you're happy." That sentence touched my heart. Up until a moment ago, I thought nothing of my mother's health, all I wanted was to get out of the hospital. But I never thought of how the hospitalized must have felt to be sick.
"Thanks."
"Huh, what for?"
"For reminding I'm not the only one in the world." He didn't answer me, he gave me a smile.
